C-stand with removable base allows much easier transportation and the possibility to use the turtle base as a separate low tripod (for lamps with large spigot or reducer).

Compared to a normal c-stand, however, it does not have a "sliding leg" and is therefore not as variable on uneven surfaces or steps.
